Sintra, Portugal Travel Guide
I just wanted to share with you this great video about Sintra. Sintra was one of first places that I visited on my solo Europe trip. In the video Delia gives us a great overview of the local culture, history, architecture, and attractions near Sintra. It was very inspiring and a little bit nostalgic for me to watch this video. However, Delia does a great job as a virtual tour guide. If you are planning a trip to Portugal, Sintra had better be on your list of destinations.
Architecture of the castle.
The video goes into great detail about this palace and it looks like it is from a fairy tale. All types of different architectural styles are used within the palace. With amazing colors ranging from yellow and red to pink and blue, a very apparent Moorish architectural design makes this palace so special. The filming of the video is done in a very nice way. Delia takes us on a tour to the inside and out of the palace. With amazing views over the parapet, we can see the palace gardens extending it out below.
Sintra gardens are like something out of a fairy tale.
The gardens of Sintra are a wonder in themselves. After taking us on a tour of the palace, Delia walks us around the gardens and shows us the inverted tower and other unique aspects of this garden made for a monarch. In the gardens of Sintra you can find an amazing well with stairs leading to the bottom. At the bottom of the well, there are stepping stones leading out of the cave. After leaving the palace and gardens of Sintra, Delia takes us to a local shop where she tastes and is educated about the local Port wine. It makes sense why some bottles can range upwards of $3000, after all they are cask aged for over 10 years!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my first post. If your looking for more information about Portugal, or more specifically about Sintra, check out the history.
